We had cultural exchange trips to two cities in Russia.
9 years ago, I received an invitation of a stage request from Theater
University in Saint Petersburg. I was glad to been there and I was so
surprised. The celebration ceremony of 225th anniversaries from established.
And the cerebration ceremony will be held every 25 years.
It means we have to wait 25 years for the next ceremony. I am the first
Japanese teacher from the school established. I did the 『Love Suicide
at Amijima』and workshop.
Ｉwas so glad that met Mr. and Mrs. Sergei from Russia, and Mr. David of
Yale University again, We embraced each other firmly.
We had dinner together. Vivid conversation was happened in such a beautiful
night.
I am interested in having a similar short-term teaching in Yale University,
and also we could meet again in Japan.
This is the beginning of friendship.
Moreover, I felt delight about the principle of Theater University is
still the same person.
「Sayoko is just like the formal teacher in our university!」I was told
by them.
The other fantastic thing was that we performed in Mariski Theater.
During the fly of going, I got a chance to talk to Mr. Yamamoto who
is the teacher of Kyogen.
His overwhelming performance filled in such a broad theater. Even the
Russians gave thunderous ovation. Japanese culture is beautiful because
there is philosophy inside.
We returned home with firm beliefs and power.
The world is small; the world is huge.
In May, the first 『Love Suicide at Amijima』trip is set off. Then, Mrs.Takeda
and Mrs.Kawakuchi and me are going to participate the NOHO theater
festival in Hollywood. This is the first time that there is a Japanese
group joining this event. I am so looking forward to meeting new people
and talking to people. And Wanowa and me would like to take this opportunity
to express my sincere appreciation for your continued support.
